Rihemberk Castle is a centuries-old castle standing on the steep Golec hill with a beautiful view of the Vipava Valley. The castle has a very rich history, dating back to the 13th century, that has been inhabited by various owners throughout history, who have carried out numerous renovations, resulting in a unique architectural blend of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles.
The castle is open every year from April to November and offers individual and guided tours, where you can discover its rich history, its attractions and its surroundings. The castle also organises interesting medieval events and experiences. Vipavski Križ is an interesting town, one of the most beautiful cultural monuments in Slovenia and a fully protected settlement. It is situated on an elongated hill in the upper Vipava Valley, near Ajdovščina. This small town is surrounded by walls, and within the walls you can find cramped houses, narrow streets, squares and other sights.
You can get to know the town and its history on a guided tour, which includes wine tasting, a visit to the old wine cellars and a visit to the monastery. Throughout the year, various wine and other events are organised in the town, the most well-known of which is the festival of Zelèn wine, a traditional wine variety from the Vipava Valley.

Another interesting location is the Old Castle of Vipava, where on the hill of the Old Castle, above Vipava, you will find the ruins of a castle dating back to the 12th century. Today, the Old Castle is an interesting excursion point, as it offers a magnificent view of the upper Vipava Valley, and can be reached on foot from Vipava, taking about half an hour to walk there.
There are many other interesting things to see in the Vipava Valley, from the various mansions such as the Lanthieri and Zemono mansions, the various bridges over the Vipava River, the natural beauty of the area and much more. This beautiful landscape is truly something special and worth a visit.
