Wine Festival Zelèn 2023
The most interesting medieval village of the Vipava Valley - Vipavski križ - will host the Zelèn Wine Festival on 10.6.2023. Vipavski Križ is one of the most beautiful cultural monuments in Slovenia, surrounded by walls, and within the walls you can find cramped houses, narrow streets and squares. The very character and atmosphere of the town makes it an ideal location for the Zelèn Wine Festival, the indigenous wine of the Vipava Valley.
Zelèn is a white wine variety with greenish hues and a delicate fragrance. The smell of the wine is rich and extremely pleasant. It is a semi-aromatic wine variety with fruity notes of apples and pears. The taste is slightly aromatic, full, bold, fresh and harmonious. This wine variety is the best known of the indigenous Vipava wine varieties, first mentioned in the 1844 Vinoreja.
If you are a wine lover, this is a great opportunity to taste this indigenous wine variety, as all the most important producers of Zelèn wine from the Vipava Valley will be present at the festival.
The festival will include a rich programme of events:
- socialising with winemakers and tasting of Zelèn wines
- Zelèn workshop, sensory, typicality, presentation of the project results
- cultural programme
- announcement of the selection of the best wines of the 2020/2021 vintage
- Knight Games, spectacle of the Knight Gašper Lambergar Group from Bled
- polenta with prosciutto in the old-style cauldron
- guided tour of the Vipavski križ
